Recruitment bid in Tripura ahead of polls

Agartala, Feb 5 � With elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAAADC) in mind, the Left Front Government is contemplating to appoint over 10,000 school teachers in different levels.

The move for fresh appointment is aimed to address discontentment brewing among the unemployed youths, who have been waiting for job since a long time.

Interview for appointment of Graduate Teachers (GTs), which was kicked off in November, is expected to be completed by February 6, official sources said here on Thursday while interview for appointment of Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) would also be completed by February 18.

Altogether 10,200 teachers will be appointed in different levels. Of the total, the total vacant posts for GT is 6,600 while the number of PGT stands at 1,102. A total of 4,629 Under Graduate Teachers (UGTs) will be appointed.

Interestingly, interview for appointment of UGTs has not got under way sensing trouble as 1,48,000 applications were submitted against 4,629 posts for UGTs. However, Banamali Sinha, Principal Secretary of School Education Department, said that interview for appointment of UGTs will begin by next month.
