Recovery rate in State touches 71 per cent

GUWAHATI, June 28 - Another person died due to COVID-19 in the State today. The victim, 45-year-old Hemanga Majumdar was a resident of Khanapara in Guwahati.

�He was brought to the hospital late, in critical state. The doctors could not save him,� Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. Sources said Majumdar was in home quarantine. His test results came today and while he was being shifted to GMCH he was gasping.

Meanwhile, during the day, 274 cured patients were also discharged from different hospitals across the State, taking the total number of discharged persons to 5,088.

The recovery rate in the State as on date is 71 per cent. The number of positive cases in the State stood at 7,165.

The State health department today recruited 300 nurses on regular basis in Guwahati Medical College �in order to strengthen the nursing work force in the fight against COVID-19�. On the other hand, Ayursundra Hospital in the city will also treat COVID-19 patients. The State health department has signed an MoU with the hospital.
