Reang body to visit Mizoram before repatriation

AGARTALA, Oct 3 - With the Centre contemplating to begin final phase of repatriation of Reang refugees sheltered in six Kanchanpur camps of North Tripura, Mizoram Bru Displaced Peoples Forum (MBDPF) has decided to visit the resettlement areas in Mizoram.

A meeting of MBDPF, held in Narsingpara refugee camp recently decided that three teams will visit the proposed rehabilitation sites in Mamit, Kolasib and Lunglei districts of Mizoram to verify the conditions prevailing there and the facilities. The Mizoram Government has proposed to rehabilitate all the Bru people after repatriation from Tripura beginning November.

A final report will be filed to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Repatriation of stranded Bru refugees may become a reality soon as Special Secretary of Internal Security (MHA) MK Singla held a meeting of the Joint Monitoring Group (JMC) recently.
