GUWAHATI, June 15 � In a bid to facilitate free movement of vehicles and people, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today inaugurated an RCC bridge and dedicated it to the service of the people at Sonapur.
The bridge, constructed under Chief Minister�s special package for conversion of wooden bridges into RCC ones, has been built at a project cost of Rs 900 lakh. The length of the bridge is 81.35 metres, while that of the approach road is 1.45 km.
Speaking on the occasion, Gogoi said that the RCC bridge, besides facilitating easy movement of vehicular traffic, would be of immense help to the students and patients who otherwise had to toil hard to reach their respective destinations. He clamied that since coming to power in 2001, the State Government has constructed more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in the State, besides constructing 3,814 bridges. He also said that his government attaches special importance to the welfare of farmers, widows and women and has adopted special schemes for their development.
Dispur MLA Akon Bora , along with other dignitaries, were present on the occasion, said an official release.
