Ravi Shankar to visit city tomorrow

GUWAHATI, Dec 14 - Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of The Art of Living, is visiting the north-eastern region and will be in Guwahati on December 16 and 17.

The spiritual leader, who is currently touring Shillong, will be interacting with a host of leaders and decision makers, as well as the general public during this visit to Guwahati.

The global ambassador of peace will preside over a public programme in the Khanapara veterinary ground on December 16 under the banner of The Art Of Living, titled �Guwahati Meditates�. The event which is scheduled for 4.30 pm, will see him sharing his wisdom with the crowd and guiding them through meditation, as well as cultural programmes and music. The event is open for all.

He will be interacting with media representatives on December 17, and also meet with the Art of Living youth leaders, teachers, and project coordinators, who are actively engaged in a wide range of service projects for the development of the region. He will also preside over a medical conference being organised by The Art of Living, titled �Cancer, De-Addiction & Spirituality�, aimed at discussing the documented benefits of spiritual practices in fighting cancer and facilitating de-addiction. This interaction with the medical fraternity and decision makers will be held at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra from 5 pm.

�The Art of Living has been consistent in its efforts in working for peace, harmony and development in the seven sister states of India and Sikkim, through its wide range of programmes. It has also been actively involved in undertaking social welfare projects in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya,� said Ashok K Thard, state media coordinator, The Art of Living. He said the Guwahati programme will provide an opportunity to the citizens for a spiritual rejuvenation.
