GUWAHATI, June 17 Though the Home Department has denied any delay in the release of funds meant for rations and medicines for jail inmates, contractors responsible for the supply of the same have alleged that they are yet to receive any amount since April this year.
While the Government, in its rebuttal, said that all works, including the supply of rations, medicines, etc., to jails are going on without any hindrance, sources countered that the amount (fixation of ceiling) for the months of April and May is yet to be released.
However, the Home Department did not explain why the jail inmates could not be provided uniforms, which is also a violation of the stipulated rules.
