GUWAHATI, Sept 7 - A meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) was held at the Deputy Commissioner�s office here today.
The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Kamrup Metro DC Dr M Angamuthu, discussed various aspects related to route rationalisation of city buses.
Dr Angamuthu is also the Chairman of the RTA.
The meeting was also attended by Additional DC Rajib Prakash Barua, DCP (Traffic) PJ Goswami and senior officials of ASTC, transport department and DTO.
The meeting assumed significance following the recent crackdown on city buses and other public carriages in Guwahati by the special team formed by the district administration. Over 50 public carriages, including city buses and trekkers, have been seized in the city during the last 3-4 days for flouting traffic norms, not adhering to route permit and for lacking fitness certificates.
