Rashtra Sevika Samiti organises seminar

GUWAHATI, March 15 - The Rashtra Sevika Samiti on Saturday organised a seminar at Alok Bhawan here at Bharalumukh.

The seminar was presided over by social worker Minati Borthakur and Deputy Advisor of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Dr Leena Gahane was present as the main speaker.

In her speech, Gahane appraised about the contribution of women in society. She also explained the importance of women for value addition in society.

The seminar was moderated by the Bivag Boudhik Pramukh of Mahanagar Samiti, Pranamika Sarma, and the Mahanagar Karyavahika, Simantani Baruah, delivered the welcome address.

Baruah provided a brief account of Rashtra Sevika Samiti and its contribution towards nation building.

�The Rashtra Sevika Samiti was established in the year 1936 and since its inception it has been working for building up individual personalities for the development of the society and the nation as a whole,� she added.

The Rashtra Sevika Samiti will also organise a conference on April 5 at the College of Veterinary Science playground. �More than 10,000 Sevikas (woman) will assemble from different parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Arunachal for the conference,� she added.
