Rasaraj�s literary compilations released

JORHAT, March 29 � A series of 14 compilations of Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaroa�s literary creations, titled Bezbaroa Samagra, was released at a grand function held at the District Library here today.

The compilations were released by distinguished litterateurs, journalists and educationists of the State, including Dr Lakshmi Nandan Bora, Dr Nagen Saikia, Dr KM Bujarbaruah, Dr Kandarpa Kumar Deka, Dr Alok Kumar Buragohain, Nitya Bora, Hemanta Barman, Jiban Narah and six others.

The Premananda Trust of Baligaon, Jorhat, is the publisher of series. The Trust was founded in the memory of social worker Ananda Chandra Bhattacharyya and his wife Premalata Devi. On behalf of the Trust, Ajoy Kumar Bhattacharyya said that the series will provide authentic creations of Rasaraj comparatively at an affordable price.

Praising the efforts of Bhattacharyya, Dr Lakshmi Nandan Bora said that the invaluable collections of Bezbaroa�s writings should be preserved by every Assamese family, as his creations induce a feeling of oneness among all sections of people in the State.

�No writer could delight us through humour as Bezbaroa had done. He is unique,� Dr Bora, a former president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha, said adding it is also rare to find any autobiography like Bezbaroa�s Mor Jiban Soworon � not only in the country but anywhere in the world.

Noted litterateur Dr Nagen Saikia, in his speech, lauded the Publishing Trust for bringing out such a monumental work, which he said would allow the readers to delve deep into Rasaraj�s mind as well as his unique style of writing.

Three Vice Chancellors � Dr KM Bujarbaruah of the Assam Agricultural University, Dr Kandarpa Kumar Deka of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankardeva Viswavidyalaya, and Dr Alok Kumar Buragohain of the Dibrugarh University � in their speeches stressed the need of studying Bezbaroa�s works for social, literary and cultural development.

Dignitaries like Nitya Bora, Hemanta Barman, Dr Leelawati Bora Saikia, Dr Karabi Deka Hazarika, Dr Madan Sarma, Jiban Narah, Dr Anil Saikia, Indreswar Sarma, Indrajit Barua and others also spoke on the significance of Bezbaroa�s works and their relevance to the present-day society.

The online edition was released by conservationist, Padma Shri Jadab Payeng, who in his speech underscored the importance of tree plantation to reduce global warming.
