DERGAON, April 2 - A rare species of crane (egret) was rescued at Bokakhat in Golaghat district on Wednesday.
The bird, identified as Glossy Ibis, had an injury to its right wing, and was found by a resident, Srimanta Bora, at Mohmaiki village in Bokakhat.
After receiving information, honorary wildlife warden Uttam Saikia, and Kaziranga research officer Dr Rabindra Sarma rescued the bird and handed it to the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, Panbari.
The bird is under treatment of Dr Samsul Ali at the centre.
The migratory bird is locally known as Akuha Bog, and comes to Kaziranga during the winter.
