Rapid Antigen Test starts in Tezpur

TEZPUR, July 20 - Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur District Manavendra Pratap Singh today formally inaugurated Rapid Antigen Test process for prompt testing of COVID-19 positive cases.

It should be mentioned here that in Tezpur town, altogether four such (Rapid Antigen Test) centres have been set up at MCH, Porwa, Don Bosco High School, Porwa, Tezpur University and Hembarua Hall. However, out of these four centres, the Deputy Commissioner formally inaugurated the Hembarua Hall centre today in the morning.

Inaugurating the RAT centre, the Deputy Commissioner mentioned that as of now in Sonitpur District a total 27325 immigrants have been screened, total 24136 samples have been collected and tested. �On the other hand, 565 positive cases have been found and out of these 212 are defence personnel and 353 are civilians who were under adequate treatment in different COVID-19 hospitals of the district.� He added that altogether 422 patients have been discharged till now. He also said that following the detection of positive cases, a total of 78 containment zones have been set up, out of which 24 are active. Moreover, till now 1262 Ag test have been done and from this 48 cases have been found positive.

�In the district till date, 60 quarantine centres have been set up having a total of 3418 bed capacity,� he said adding that symptomatic people, persons having any travel history (mainly Guwahati), persons coming in contact with any positive case and frontline workers fighting against COVID-19 should go for RAT.
