GUWAHATI, April 20: The Assam Table Tennis Association (ATTA) has allotted the season�s maiden major ranking TT tournament to the Golaghat District Sports Association.

The championship, in memory of Madhurjya Gogoi will be staged at the Probin Gogoi Indoor Stadium, Golaghat from May 2 to 5, informed ATTA secretary Tridib Duvarah in a release.

The organisers are expecting over 350 players, including national and international, from ATTA affiliated units like-Guwahati, Nagaon, Tezpur, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Nazira, Namrup, Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Silchar, Duliajan, Oil India Limited, NF Railway.

Altogether 10 individual events, from cadet to senior, are scheduled to be played in both male and female sections.

Biman Bhagawati of Sivasagar has been appointed as chief referee while he will be assisted by Gobinda Upadhaya of Guwahati and Chandan Goswami of Nagaon. Nayan Jyoti Sarma, treasurer of ATTA will be the official observer of the championship.
