GUWAHATI, June 25 - Preetpal Bezbaruah and Ayushi Kabra, both of Sai Vikash Junior College of Guwahati city, have secured third and sixth ranks respectively in the Science stream of the Higher Secondary Final Examination conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).

While pursuing my HS I stayed at the hostel of our institute, so I got plenty of time to study. I prepared for the exams studying for around 10 hours a day. Today I am very happy that my hard work has paid off, Preetpal said while talking to The Assam Tribune.

Preetpal, who hails from Parmankhowa village in Nalbari district, had earlier secured the second spot in SEBAs HSLC Examination too.

Preetpal, who loves mathematics, said he wants to pursue higher education in any top engineering college of the country and then pursue his career as a scientist.

I studied till class ten in Assamese medium and then came to English medium in higher secondary. Because of this it took me some time to adjust with the new medium, he said.

Talking about his success mantra, Preetpal stated that maintaining regularity in studies is very essential for a student of science stream. He is also a quizzer and table tennis player.

Ayushi, who scored 93 per cent marks to secure the sixth spot, said, Yesterday I played the guitar the whole day to get relief from stress. I love both physics and guitar. My favourite guitarist is Sungha Jung from South Korea.

A resident of Chenikuthi area of the city, Ayushi wants to be a computer engineer.

I had no specific timetable and used to study whenever possible. I think one should give equal attention to all subjects and success will come spontaneously. I want to continue higher education either in IIT or in NIT. I also have a plan to go in for research in future, she said.
