Ranjan Daimarys arrest flayed

By Correspondent

UDALGURI, Oct 4 The United Democratic Peoples Front (UDPF) has strongly condemned the arrest of the founder chairman of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) Ranjan Daimari on September 29 last, when he had gone to appear in the hearing of his TADA cases before the court in Guwahati and was sent to 15 days of judicial custody, a press release issued by Prodeep Kumar Daimary, president and Sujit Basumatary, general secretary of the regional political outfit said at Udalguri today.

It may be mentioned that Ranjan Daimari was released on bail on June 18 last year, to facilitate the peace process with the Government. But today, Daimari was arrested again and sent to the judicial custody on the plea of lapses on the period of bail grant, the UDPF press release lamented.

This is a conspiracy of the Government and they have acted accordingly. As he has already applied for granting of bail, he should have been granted bail and the peace process allowed to continue. His arrest and detention in custody or jail may hamper the peace process between the NDFB and the Government. It is a clear conspiracy to derail the ongoing peace process, the press release observed.

The UDPF press communique appealed to the Government to release Daimary immediately and continue the peace process to find out an amicable solution to their problems. The UDPF also appealed to the NDFB to refrain from any kind of violent activity and maintain peace and tranquillity in the region.
