Rangjali Bwisagw at Bandarmari on April 26

TEZPUR, April 16 � The West Tezpur Anchalick All Bodo Students Union in Sonitpur district in association with the people of the greater Bandarmari-Khelmati area has been celebrating the Rangjali Bwisagw for the last four years reflecting communal harmony among the different communities such as Bodo, Adivasi, Muslim, Assamese and Koch Rajbongshi living in the area.

Keeping pace with the same conception, this year too the Rangjali Bwisagw will be celebrated at Borghup village near Bandarmari with a day-long programme on April 26 to mark its fifth annual celebration. To mark the occasion, a reception committee has already been formed which has urged all concerned to extend their helping hand to make the event a grand success, reflecting communal harmony and brotherhood among the people of different communities of the area in the real sense.

Nabajyoti Boro, secretary of the ABSU unit and Sujit Kumar Boro, vice president of the reception committee, while giving details about the day-long function said that the day�s programme will start with the unfurling of the ABSU flag by the student unit�s president Rajib Boro at 7 am.

It will be followed by homage to the martyrs by Anthaw Bathaw Boro at 7:30 am. At 8 am a tree plantation programme will be inaugurated by Barghup LP School�s headmaster Luhit Rajwar, which will be followed by inauguration of the delegates sitting by the vice president of Bahbari Anchalick Boro Sahitya Sabha, Sidheswar Rabha. The session will be conducted by the speaker of the student wing, Maharsha Brahma, the organisers said.

The main attraction the day-long programme, �Bwisagw dance competition� will be inaugurated by Dr. Rumen Chandra Boro, assistant professor, department of obstetrics and gynaecology, Tezpur Medical College, at 1 pm. The prize distribution ceremony and the open session will be held at 4 pm. It will be presided over by Prafulla Boro.

Tanka Bahadur Rai, local MLA and Rijendranath Brahma Choudhury, District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO), Sonitpur have consented to attend the occasion as the chief guest and appointed speaker respectively, Sujit Boro said, adding, Santi Ranjan Basumatary, president, Bahbari Anchalick BSS, Tepuram Boro, public relations secretary, ABSU, Anil Kurmi, adviser, ATTSA, among others, will attend the function.

In the evening, the cultural programme will be inaugurated by noted cultural activist Prasanna Rabha.
