Rangiya ADRM visits New Bongaigaon station

BONGAIGAON, June 8 � Vinod Kumar Agrawal, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Rangiya Division, visited New Bongaigaon Railway Station recently and took suggestions from the local citizens and the media to improve the facilities for railway users.

Agrawal�s visit was in connection with the �Railyatri/Upbhokta Pakhwada� (Passenger and Customer Facilitation Fortnight), which is on from May 26 and would last till June 9. The aim of this fortnight is to receive feedback from railway users on service provided by the Railway department and address the grievances of the passengers.

On behalf of the local rail-users, Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, submitted a memorandum to the ADRM with suggestions to increase amenities for the passengers at Bongaigaon and New Bongaigaon railway stations.

The memorandum included suggestions like: stoppage of 15471/15472 Intercity Express at Bongaigaon station, reinstatement of landline telephone facility for inquiry at both Bongaigaon and New Bongaigaon stations, spreading of double line between New Bongaigaon to Guwahati via Rangiya, stoppage of night-moving trains at Bongaigaon station, setting up of health clinic at New Bongaigaon station for emergency medical aid to passengers, exit and entrance facility to and from stations for differently-abled passengers, extension of cover-sheds in Bongaigaon and New Bongaigaon stations, extension of passengers� waiting rooms in stations and engagement of licensed porters in stations and replacement of old computers with new sets for smooth service in ticket booking counters.

The media suggested supply of �Rail-Neer� bottled water in trains and stations for passengers, display of notices and advisories of the rail department in stations, besides surprise visits by top officials time to time to know the quality of service and duties of staff and transparency in case of various complaints lodged by passengers.

Listening to all the suggestions and grievances from local rail-users, Agrawal said he would place all these demands and grievances before the higher authority of the railway department for consideration. The railway official also promised to sort out some basic issues in Bongaigaon and New Bongaigaon stations in the interest of the passengers.
