Rangdajied cruise into Bordoloi Trophy semis

GUWAHATI, Sept 27 � Rangdajied United Football Club proved to be better in penalty shots as they pipped their Shillong counterpart Langsning Football Club by an aggregate of 7-6 goals in sudden death in the third quarterfinal of the 61st Bordoloi Trophy Tournament.

After a 1-1 draw in the regulation time, both the teams converted four shots each in the tie-breaker. But Moyasing Khongreiw missed the 7th shot which finally sealed the fate of the match. Langsning went ahead in the 29th minute when Timmy Ryngkhlem anticipated a through from Moirangthem Ashok Singh and beat the opponent goalkeeper.

In the second session, playing an attacking game, Rangdajied scored the equaliser in the 49th minute through Argha Chakravorty. In the tie-breaker, Baba Tunde, E-Abocha Singh, Bhola Prasad and Ennaya Loveday were the successful shooters for the winning team while custodian Surjay Kr Pariyar missed his turn.

In sudden death, Thomas Saikhom and Pynshongdor hit the target. For Langsning, Michael Olatayo Ayeni, Moirangthem Ashok Singh, Fullmoon Mukhim and Yinka Joel Sunday Ayeni converted the shots in tie-breaker. However, in sudden death, Samson Nongrum was successful in hitting the target Moyasing failed to shot home.
