Azara, Feb. 26 : Teer, a form of gambling has caught the imagination of the younger generation to such an extent that all social values have taken a back seat in the entire south Kamrup area.
It has been observed that the younger generation of Dharapur, Azara, Garal, Borjhar, Kahikuchi under Azara police station, Rani and it's adjoining areas under Rani police out post, Palasbari, Mirza, Bijoynagar under Palasbari police station and Chaygaon market area under Chaygaon police station in South Kamrup have been influenced most by this form of gambling.
The police personnel of Azara, Rani, Palashbari and Chaygaon have allegedly failed to stop the game. The police have not taken any noticeable action against the gamblers despite repeated pleas made by the conscious citizens in the localities. There seems to be a good understanding between the police and the gamblers, the conscious citizens voiced. They have urged the D.Cs , Kamrup(M) and Kamrup districts to take concrete steps in this regard immediately.
