Ramdhenu awards presented

NALBARI, June 25 - Ramdhenu award for 2018, instituted by Bihagi media group was presented in a function held at Bamunbari Swahid Sowarani college in Nalbari district last evening.

The Jibanjora Sadhona bota (lifelong contribution award) was given to eminent litterature, former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Dr Laxmi Nandan Bora. Receiving the award, Dr Bora said that literature and culture must be developed for the betterment of a community. He added that allround development of rural folk is the main key for the development of a community. Dr Bora admitted that as a student and a teacher he had suffered a lot of problems while pursuing his literary works. He, however, overcame the problems through hard work. He opined that only hard work brings success in life. Dr Bora called upon the new generation writers to write novels on the lives of people of char areas and tea gardens.

The best media award was given to Sayad Jarir Hussain of News Live. The award was received by Dipak Das on behalf of Hussain.

The best reporting award for young journalist was given to Ramen Kalita, a Nalbari-based correspondent of The Assam Tribune and Dainik Asam. Dr Laxmi Nandan Bora presented the award to Kalita. The MLA of Barkshetri LAC Narayan Deka was presented the best young MLA award. The award for the best playwright was given to Dhrubajyoti Sarma and Abhijit Bhattacharya. The best social worker award was given to Ganesh Tamuly, Director of North East Cancer Hospital of Guwahati. Some other awards were also given in the same function. Earlier, Kanak Kalita explained the aims and objectives of the Bihagi Media group.
