Rally held to create awareness on child rights

HAILAKANDI, Nov 21 - A large number of school students took out a rally to create awareness on child-related issues in Hailakandi town on Wednesday.

Flagging off the rally, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli said that every child has rights and the rally has been organized to generate awareness on it. Jalli urged the children to report any incident of atrocities at home and surroundings to �Childline 1098� and assured that the administration would take prompt action. She appealed to the students taking part in the rally to spread the message among their classmates and friends to create awareness about their rights.

Children carrying banners and placards with messages about prevention of child marriage, child labour and other child-related issues traversed through the main thoroughfares of the town before culminating at the Deputy Commissioner�s office premises from where it had begun.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, RK Dam, District Social Welfare Officer, J Daimari, District Child Protection Officer, Jitul Borah and other officials were present.

The rally was organised by District Child Protection Unit in association with Childline, Hailakandi.
