NALBARI, March 17 - In a unique and innovative approach, the Nalbari district administration on Saturday took out a rally to create awareness among the voters of the district.
The rally was flagged off by noted academician Dr Basanta Kumar Bhattacharya and Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury at a brief function held at the premises of Nalbari Natya Mandir here yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bhattacharya said that the move would definitely increase awareness among the voters. He lauded the approach of the district administration in this regard.
While addressing the public, Deputy Commissioner Choudhury said that the district administration would take out more rallies in the rural areas of the district.
The voter awareness rally showcased the rich folk art forms like dhulia, ojapali, putola nach, Mohoho, Aai Naam, Biya Naam etc, which snaked its way along the main thoroughfares of Nalbari town.
To attract the new and women voters, the Nalbari district administration for the first time sought the help of the rich folk art form of this locality.
It may be mentioned here that Nalbari has a rich heritage of folk culture like dhuliya, ojapali, putola nach, naam party, biya naam etc.
Later, talking to this Correspondent, Deputy Commissioner Dev Choudhury said if the present issues can be reflected and promoted through these age-old folk art forms in an innovative way, then the present generation will derive inspiration.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that the Nalbari district administration has planned a series of unique campaigns in rural areas to create awareness among the voters so that no voter is left behind. On the occasion, a quiz competition on the topic �Amar Sangbidhan Amar Nirbason� was also held at Nalbari Natya Mandir.
