JALAH, Sept 13 � Thousands of people participated in an anti-Bangladeshi protest rally at Mushalpur in Baksa today.
Over 20,000 people, irrespective of caste, creed and community, participated in the rally which started from Mushalpur Higher Secondary School ground to Bathaopuri field. The rally was organized by All Assam Students� Union (AASU), Baksa district unit and was supported by over 26 organizations.
Memorandums were submitted to the President of India, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and Chief Minister demanding update of NRC, and detection and deportation of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. It also demanded proper identification of genuine Indian citizens before rehabilitation of the displaced people in the riots in the districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri.
A meeting was also held at Bathaopuri field which was addressed by leaders of various organizations, who stressed just one point � to make the State free from illegal Bangladeshis.
Our Tezpur Correspondent adds: Demanding immediate action by the Centre as well as the State Government to drive out the illegal migrants from the region, the All Assam Students� Union (AASU) today staged a massive rally at Collegiate High School playground at Tezpur, which was attended and supported
by several organizations
including Sonitpur district ABSU, AJYCP, AGP, 26 other tribal organizations and people from all walks of life.
A procession of more than 15 thousand people, including students, senior citizens and representatives from various socio-cultural organizations, was also taken out from the Collegiate High School playground.
The protesters carried placards and shouted anti-government slogans for its �failure to address the issue of Bangladeshi influx� in the State and demanded implementation of Assam Accord without any delay. The protest rally organized under the aegis of the All Assam Students� Union (AASU) was spontaneously joined by various organizations and people from every walk of life of the society.
