GUWAHATI, July 25 - Intense battle of wits is being witnessed in the GTC Classic Chess that is under way at the Gauhati Town Club here.
Rakesh Chakravorty of Jorhat continued his magnificient performance and defeated joint overnight leader Ankan Roy in round 6 to take the sole lead. He is followed by Tralokya Nanda on 5.5 points. A group of eight players �Nandan Buragohain, Sayan Banik, Avijit Das, Madhab Sarma, Rajib Dhar, Vikramjit Singh, Chiranjan Bhuyan and Ankan Roy � are in third position with 5 points each.
With 4 more rounds to go in the championship, players have an open field.
Altogether Rs 1.5 lakh is on offer as prize money in this 5-day Swiss League International Rating tournament.
