Rajnath visits relief camp at Jagi Bhakatgaon

JAGIROAD, July 30 - Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today airdashed from Borjhar Airport to the temporary helipad at Golsepa in Morigaon district to take stock of the current situation of floods in parts of the district.

He travelled to the flood relief camp set up by the district authority at Jagi HS School under flood-affected Mayong Revenue Circle and interacted with the inmates of the camp.

Later talking to mediapersons present in the camp, he expressed concern over the state of the flood situation in Assam and said that he had asked the State Chief Minister to take every possible steps to minimise the sufferings of the hapless flood-affected people. He assured all possible help by the Centre to the State government for assuaging the sorrow of the people.

The Union Home Minister, during his visit, was accompanied by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Doner Minister Jitendra Singh, MP Ramen Deka, State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta and Jagiroad, Morigaon and Batadrawa MLAs Piyush Hazarika, Rama Kanta Dewri and Angurlata Deka respectively.

Singh also requested the DoNER Minister to coordinate with the State Government on behalf of the Centre in all matters concerning the flood.

The Home Minister also gave away cheques amounting to Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the families of the victims, who died in the current wave of floods in the district.
