Rajiv Bhawan blast accused identified

GUWAHATI, March 16 � Police has stumbled upon clues indicating that Dwipen Saud of ULFA�s 709 battalion has masterminded the Rajiv Bhawan blast on Monday and massive operation has been launched to nab him.

Of the three suspected ULFA cadres picked up in connection with Rajiv Bhawan blast so far, Police is still questioning two of them.

Police claimed that Saud hails from Barpeta district and had masterminded the Rajiv Bhawan blast.

�We have some information hinting towards Saud's involvement in the blast and we are tracking his movement,� Inspector General of Police (CWR) Pallav Bhattacharya told The Assam Tribune.

�Of the three persons picked up during the course of investigation, we have allowed one of them to go while other two are still in our custody and questioning is on,� he said.

Meanwhile, top security police officials including IGP (Security) SN Singh, IGP (CWR) Pallav Bhattacharya and SSP (City) Deepak Choudhury reviewed the security in and around the Rajiv Bhawan and suggested certain measures to avert any such incident.

Police has asked the office bearers of the Rajiv Bhawan to issue fresh and limited car passes, identity cards to the members and round-the-clock frisking.

�We have also asked them to install short circuit television cameras in strategic locations and construct watch towers too,� Bhattacharya stated, adding that measures have also been suggested to other political parties and security arrangements would be reviewed from time to time.
