Rajib wins NF Rly chess tourney

GUWAHATI, July 12 - Rajib Dhar emerged champion in the Rs 1,20,000 1st NF Railway North East Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament which ended today at the NF Railway Indoor Stadium , Maligaon.

This is for the first time that Railway organization is coming ahead to organize such International Rating Chess Tournament within north east zone.

Total 102 players including 61 rated from different states took part in the meet.

Rajib bagged Rs 20,000 as prize money while Bikramjit Sing of Manipur and Debasish Dutta of Assam placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. They became richer by Rs 15,000 and 10,000.

Competitions were held in the U-7, U-9, U-11, U-13, U-15 category also. In the prize distribution ceremony SK Agarwal, Chief Mechanical Engineer, NF Rly and Anu Agarwal, general secretary NF Railway Women Welfare Association gave away the prizes, stated a release.
