By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SILCHAR, March 22 - In a major development in the run-up to the Lok Sabha election, BJP state spokesperson Dr Rajdip Roy has been named as the candidate for contesting for the coveted Silchar Lok Sabha seat.

Kripanath Mallah, on the other hand, has been given the party ticket from Karimganj seat.

This came after the central election committee of the BJP declared the list of candidates for the ensuing election on Thursday evening.

Sharing his initial thoughts with The Assam Tribune, Rajdip said this was an opportunity to work hard and re-elect Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of the country.

Narendra Modijis leadership will help us create new history in Barak Valley. There will be unprecedented results and Congress will bite the dust here and across India. Our focus is to re-elect Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister. The party has taken a decision and now we all have to work hard, Rajdip said as he remembered his father late Bimalangshu Roy, former MLA from Silchar.
