SILCHAR, March 21 - In a major development in the run up to the Lok Sabha elections, BJP state spokesperson Dr Rajdip Roy has been named as the candidate to contest in the elections for the coveted Silchar Lok Sabha seat. Kripanath Mallah has been given the party ticket from Karimganj seat.
This came after the central election committee of the BJP declared the list of candidates for the ensuing elections on Thursday evening.
Sharing his initial thoughts with The Assam Tribune, Rajdip said, "Narendra Modiji's leadership will help us create new history in Barak Valley. There will be unprecendented results and Congress will bite the dust here and across India. The party has taken a decision and now we all have to work hard," Roy said.
He is the son of late Bimalangshu Roy, former MLA from Silchar.
