GUWAHATI, Dec 11 - Assam suffered their second consecutive defeat in the Group A Vijay Hazare Trophy match as they went down to Rajasthan by one wicket.
In a close match at the Railways Recreation Club Ground, Secunderabad today, Assam, being put into bat first, were all out for 148 and in reply Rajasthan reached the winning target with just three balls to spare losing nine wickets.
In the low scoring match, Assam opener Pallav Das top scored with 37 while Amit Sinha (27) and J Syed Mohammad (26) were the only notable contributors. As many as six Assam batsmen even failed to reach double figures.
Experienced medium pacer Rajat Bhatia ripped through the Assam batting line-up with a five-wicket haul giving away just 17 runs in his quota of 10 overs.
But the Assam bowlers made a brilliant start reducing the opponent to 47 for five. But all rounder Rajat spoilt Assam�s party adding 58 runs with Rajesh Bisnoi for the eighth wicket which virtually took Rajasthan to the safe shore. Rajat remained unbeaten with 68 off 82 deliveries. He hit six boundaries and a six.
Krishna Das, Arup Das, Pritom Das and Pallav Das took two wickets each.
