SIVASAGAR, Jan 27 - Moran Sub-division Journalists� Forum observed its third raising day with a day-long programme at Moran Womens� College premises recently.

The open session, presided over by Ajit Chutia, was addressed, among others, by Dr Indranath Chutia, Superintendent , Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, Dr Girin Phukan, Prof (retd) , Dibrugarh University, Dr Anuradha Baruah, Professor, AMC, Dibrugarh, Suruj Dihingia and Mayur Boruah.

Jayashree Phukan, principal, Moran Womens� College inaugurated the meeting while Sovit Kumar Chetri, adviser AAPCU, released a book titled , Prantikar patot mur lekha written by Pradip Kumar Handique, vice principal, Lengeri HS.

Releasing the souvenir Chaturtha Stombha Dr Indranath Chutia said that freedom of the press is invariably linked with social responsibility and accountability and, hence, while filing news reports, the scribes must exercise maximum self-restraint. Three senior scribes of Moran � Binod Phukan, Devi Chutia and Mukut Singha Phukan were felicitated posthumously in presence of their family members.

Earlier, Ajit Chutia and Basa Bora hoisted the flag and paid floral tributes to the martyrs respectively. A journalism workshop was conducted by Manjit Bora, editor, Dainik Prtihkyan, Ratan Hazarika of Dibrugarh , DY365 upper Assam Bureau Chief Bhaskarjyoti Das and Jadunath Puri.
