Rains affect normal life in Tinsukia

DOOMDOOMA , April 21 - Incessant rain for the last 48 hours has affected the normal life in Upper Assam including Tinsukia district. In many places of the district, the low-lying areas have been submerged in rain waters. The water levels of the Brahmaputra and other rivers in the district have also increased .

People preferred to keep themselves indoors and the traffic on the roads is also thin. The rain has also affected the business in the district . The daily wage labourers, rickshaw and thela pullers and the vendors are the worst sufferers. The students also faced hardships in going to schools.

It is feared that if the rain continues for a few more days, it will adversely affect the tea industry of the state. It can be mentioned here that the production of tea in the state has gone down by 10 % in the year 2015 compared to 2014 . Adverse weather condition is one of the major factors.
