By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 8 - A railway parcel van coach got partially derailed in the wee hours today at the Level Crossing No. 7 near Gandhibasti here. However, nobody was hurt in the incident.

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) officials said the luggage van slipped from the tracks during shunting and hit the dead-end guard-wall of a pit line. It also hit a few shops located near the track, resulting in some damage to the shops. The incident also resulted in blockade of the level crossing, which connects Gandhibasti with Guwahati Club. However, railway personnel were able to clear the level crossing by 10 am.

Meanwhile, NFR Chief Public Relations Officer PJ Sharma said there would be an inquiry into the incident. He added that the luggage van was being taken to be attached to a passenger train at the Guwahati Railway Station, when the accident happened.
