Railway engineer comes under CBI scanner at Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI, July 23 - The anti-corruption wing of the Central investigating agency, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out search operations on Saturday in the house of one Mrinal Kumar Tamuly, an engineer working with North East Frontier Railway, at Biswanath Chariali town.

According to information, the Central investigating agency had earlier registered a case against Tamuly in connection with his disproportionate amount of properties. The engineer who had joined the Railways in 2009, allegedly amassed huge amount of money and properties during last nine years. At present, he is engaged in the Bogibeel Project of Indian Railways.

The nine-member search team of CBI also sealed a bank locker of his wife Niharika Sharma in the Biswanath Chariali branch of State Bank of India. The team had reportedly found disproportionate properties worth more than Rs 250 crore during the search operation. However, Tamuly�s wife Niharika Sharma claimed it to be a conspiracy against them hatched by their family members. The local social organisations have demanded proper inquiry into the matter and also wanted stern action against the guilty persons.
