Railway Consumer Depot inaugurated at Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Feb 27 - A state of the art Railway Consumer Depot (fuelling station) was inaugurated on Friday at the Dibrugarh Railway Station at Banipur here to cater to the needs of the Railways in the region including for railway services on the North bank.

The Railway Consumer Depot was jointly inaugurated by Aneet Dulat, the Divisional Railway Manager, Tinsukia Division, of NF Railway and Dipankar Ray, Executive Director of Indian Oil, Assam Oil Division in the presence of Partha Datta, DGM (Consumer Sales), Indian Oil AOD and others.

The NF Railway will now have better flexibility of operation in managing train services in the region as fuelling of locomotives for all long distance trains can be done at this depot. Earlier, fuelling of locomotives could be carried out at Tinsukia only.

DRM Dulat said that with the establishment of the depot at Dibrugarh, a significant milestone was achieved in augmentation of railway infrastructure with the assistance of the Guwahati Divisional Office of the Indian Oil Corporation. He said that the state of the art fuelling station would not only help fuelling of locomotives that originate from and terminate at Dibrugarh Railway Station but also the impending trains which would run on the North bank after commissioning of the Bogibeel rail-cum-road bridge.

The Railway Consumer Depot has a tankage capacity of six lakh eighty eight thousand (6,88,000) litres of High Speed Diesel (HSD) with allied pumping and pipeline facilities for fuelling of Diesel LOCOs. Fuelling of a locomotive was also carried out successfully for the first time at the station after the inauguration of the Railway Consumer Depot on Friday.

Ashit Gupta, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, NF Railway, Tinsukia was also present during the inaugural function. The inaugural programme was anchored by Rupam Das, Assistant Manager (CS), Guwahati Division Office, Indian Oil AOD.
