IMPHAL, March 2 � All Zeliangrong Students Union (AZSU) has decided to ban the construction companies engaged in the construction of Jiribam-Tupul railway line from executing their works after five days.
According to AZSU press release, it has repeatedly requested the companies for maintaining quality in the construction works, but they failed to comply.
AZSU and Zeliangrong Students Union, Manipur (ZSUM) have taken a drastic decision to ban Simplex Infrastructures Limited, Onycon Engineers Private Limited, ECI Engineering & Construction Limited, Bharti Infrastructures Projects Limited, Sushee Infrastructures Private Limited, Apex Construction and SK Engineering & Construction India Limited.
The All Zeliangrong Students� Union (AZSU) in collaboration with ZSUM conducted independent inspections at the work sites of the Jiribam-Tupul Railway in December, 2014. Bridges, tunnels and open space rail tracts were inspected during the construction.
According to AZSU, during the inspection, several companies were found not maintaining work quality and sub-standard materials including cheap sands, stones, iron, cement, etc. being used. There is a tendency of fraudulent practices by many companies.
�The AZSU has submitted memos to the PMO and the Ministry of Railways today seeking urgent intervention and for conducting independent inspection on regular basis,� it added.
