Rail Minister to launch new train service in Tripura on Sept 22

AGARTALA, Sept 17 - Union Railways Minister Pijush Goyal would be arriving here on September 22 to formally inaugurate Garjee-Santir Bazar train service, according to sources.

Goyal, who would be on a four-day visit to Northeastern States beginning September 20, will dedicate yet another train service � Garjee/Santir Bazar from Agartala railway station through video conference to the people of the State.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and senior Railways official will also attend the programme.

The Railways Minister would arrive at Guwahati and review the status of the ongoing railway projects in the entire Northeastern region with NF Railway officials.

On the following day, Goyal will visit Shillong to review the progress of Byrnihat-Shillong railway link. Besides, he will also have a meeting with Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma before returning to Guwahati.

In his first visit to the Northastern States as Railways Minister, he will also pay a visit to Aizawl and Itanagar on September 23 where he is scheduled to hold meetings with Chief Ministers of both the States.

After launching of passenger service up to Santir Bazar, another destination � Sabroom will be left out of the country�s railway map. And, this will be done within next one year with NFR trying hard to take the railway network up to Sabroom, State�s southern most border subdivision with Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina have already flagged off work of Indo-Bangla railway project (Agartala-Akhaura) early this week.
