Rail Budget disappointing: AIUDF

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 26 - All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has termed the Railway Budget presented in Parliament on Thursday as a disappointment for the people of Assam.

The Railway Budget has only brought disappointment for the people of Assam. There is nothing new in the Budget for the State. In fact, the Railway Minister has tried to take credit for old projects announced by the previous government, AIUDF president and Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal said.

He said that none of the long-standing demands of the people of Assam with regard to development of rail infrastructure have been addressed by the Budget.

The Railway Minister's decision not to hike passenger fares and freight rates is a political decision. Last year, there was a massive hikes in fares, Ajmal said.

He added that AIUDF had submitted a list of demands to the Railway Minister earlier but none of them have been fulfilled in the Budget.
