Raijor Dal forms Jorhat district and Assembly constituency committees

JORHAT, Dec 12 - With Assembly elections approaching, Raijor Dal has intensified its plans to reach out to the people and constituted full-fledged Jorhat district and Jorhat Assembly Constituency committees respectively in the newly-formed party�s district-level convention held at the Shree Shree Pitambar Devagoswami Auditorium of Jorhat District Library on Friday.

In the convention which was attended by the party�s top leaders that included eminent filmmaker Jahnu Baruah, who is an adviser, a 51-member Jorhat district committee and a 43-member Jorhat Assembly constituency committee was formed. The 51-member Jorhat district committee has Dibyajyoti Sarmah as its president, Dilip Kumar Bordoloi as its working president, three general secretaties - Surjya Mohan Das, Papori Gogoi and Promode Gogoi. Five prominent persons were selected as advisers of the district committee. They are senior advocate Bhaba Goswami, retired professor Niren Baruah, dramatist Debabrata Mahanta, social workers Ganesh Hazarika and Mofizur Rahman.

The 43-member Jorhat Assembly constituency committee has Amrit Chetia as its president, Mahendra Khanikar as working president, Abhijit Saikia as general secretary and four secretaries, namely Prasanta Rajkhowa, Rajib Hazarika, Prasanta Kataki and Dibyajyoti Dutta.

The Jorhat Assembly constituency has four advisers, namely Promode Mahanta, Pradip Bhuyan, Pulin Das and Bharat Basumatary.

It may be mentioned here that on October 18 last the party had formed a 101-member convenor committee to prepare the ground for making a foothold across the district.
