RAHA, July 17 - Local units of Raha Anchalik Tiwa Students Union, Krishak Sramik Unnayan Parishad, Raha Anchalik Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti, Raha Anchalik Praktan Ulfa Oikya Mancha and Raha Truck Chalak Santha on Sunday gave a deadline to the Nagaon district administration, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) as well as the Assam Government to complete the four-lane project at the Raha stretch immediately.
In a press conference held at the office of the Tiwa Students Union here on Sunday, leaders and representatives of the organisations demanded completion of the four-lane project soon, besides immediate repair of the National Highway-37 feeder road from Dimou Sariali to Raha Sariali.
Similarly, the organisations also demanded immediate construction of the drainage system across the road. Apart from the above, the organisations demanded essential facilities like sanitation, better parking and rest house at the Raha toll plaza.
The organisations warned that if the Government and NHAI failed to fulfil their nine-point charter of demands within August 14, then they would launch a series of agitational movements against the NHAI as well as the State Government from August 15 at Raha Sariali. They also threatened to close down the Raha toll plaza if their demands are not fulfilled.
