GUWAHATI, Dec 24 - The 93rd birth anniversary of Md Rafi, doyen of Indian playback singing, was celebrated with a daylong programme at the Shilpgram auditorium today. The occasion was organised under the aegis of Md Rafi Smriti Sangha.
The day�s programmes included competitions on songs of Md Rafi, Jyoti Sangeet and songs under the music direction of Ramen Baruah. Participants from across the State took part in the competitions in large numbers. The evening�s musical function began after the prize-distribution ceremony. A number of singers, including �Jr Rafi� Farooq Hussain and Ashish Banik enthralled the audience with their performance. The award-winning competitors also performed.
