GUWAHATI, May 8 - Brihottor Guwahati Rabindra Jayanti Udjapan Samiti today observed Rabindra Jayanti here in the presence of a few members of the committee.
In the programme held at Rabindra Bhawan, the lighting of the ceremonial lamp was initiated by the working president of the committee Debashish Sengupta, while its chief patron Mrigen Sarania garlanded the statue of Rabindranath Tagore.
Earlier, the committee distributed meal among the needy at the Sukreswar Ghat and in Bishnupur area covering more than 200 people. Rajib Das, general secretary of the committee, and member Sankar Chakraborty distributed masks, sanitizers and gloves to police staff at various city police stations. The programme was supported by Jurismita Dutta, Satyajit Das, Debraj Dey, Anirudh Chakraborty and others, stated a press release.
