Raas fest begins at Golokganj

GAURIPUR, Nov 30 - The 5-day-long Raas festival of Golokganj on the premises of Chilarai Hari mandir started on November 29 last at 9 pm. Before the inauguration of the festival, a religious procession was brought out where the Raas revellers participated by wearing their traditional attire and brought water from the turbulent river Gangadhar for performing rituals.

Kamini Kanta Roy, president of the celebration committee inaugurated the festival. Kartik Ray, secretary of the celebration committee anchored the ceremony. More than 50 idols of Lord Krishna were installed in the decorated stalls around the premises of the Hari mandir to attract the devotees. No cultural functions and mela were organised but naam-kirtan would be held daily.
