Quiz, elocution contests as part of ATEU diamond jubilee

GUWAHATI, Dec 30 - As part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Assam Tribune Employees� Union (ATEU) scheduled for January 27 and 28, an all-Assam prize-money quiz and elocution contest will be held at Pandit Tirthanath Sarma Sabhaghar, Chandmari, at 10 am on January 6.

The topic for the elocution contest for Group A which is open for contestants from Class VIII to Class XII is �What we want from the newspapers and journals published from the Assam Tribune Group�. The topic for Group B which is open for contestants from Degree to postgraduate level is �The role of the media in the face of challenges brought by globalisation and privatisation with special context to the newspapers and journals of the Assam Tribune Group�.

The medium of the elocution is Assamese and English. The top three elocutionists in Group A will be awarded cash of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively, besides trophies. The top three in Group B will get Rs 4,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively, besides trophies.

The quiz competition scheduled from 1.30 p.m., is open for all and each team must have two members. The top three teams will be awarded cash of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively, besides trophies.

The prizes will be formally presented to the winners during the second convention of the diamond jubilee function.

There is no joining fee for the contests. Interested participants can register themselves on the email id [email protected] before January 5.
