Python creates traffic jam at Kalaigaon

KALAIGAON, July 8 - In a bizzare incident, a python caused a traffic jam here, leading to the amusement of the public but giving a tough time to the police who had to struggle to control the crowd.

The adult python was spotted on the top of a tree by a group of people in front of the Kalaigaon HS School near the busy MB Road at 11 am today. Hundreds of people converged on the site to see the reptile sleeping blissfully on a tree branch, disrupting traffic movement for hours.

A number of policemen, led by the OC of the Kalaigaon PS, had to control the crowd till the arrival of the Forest personnel. The 10-foot-long python, weighing approximately 12 kg, was finally captured to be released in the Khalingduar Reserve Forest near the Indo-Bhutan border.
