Pwilao felicitated

GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - Ace State woman boxer Pwilao Basumatary, who won a bronze medal in the recently concluded Asian Women Boxing Championship in China, was accorded a warm felicitation by the Assam Amateur Boxing Association here today. A leading boxer of the national team, Pwilao has already won several national and international medals and hoped to do better in the coming days. Speaking on the occasion the young boxer said she will work hard and will try to win more medals for the country.

State Director of Sports Anjan Sarma and SAI Regional Sub Centre Director Subhash Basumatary showered praise on Pwilao for her show in the national and international arena. Sarma said, Pwilao should be given more exposure and financial assistance so that she can go for advanced training for honing her skill. Her coach Gita Rani Devi, who was also a member of the Indian supporting stuff to China, said, for last few years Indian boxers could not prepare themselves properly for any international event as no national championships were held. But despite that Indian woman boxers have been able to pick up six medals in, including a silver, in China. She hoped that India will do much better in woman boxing in the coming days.

The felicitation function was held in presence of the executive council members of the Boxing India.
