By Correspondent

PATACHARKUCHI, June 24 - A major portion of the Kordoiguri-Souliabari PWD Road has been inundated by the floodwaters of Pahumara river at Gohinpara under the Bajali subdivision. Communication has been disrupted following incessant rains since the last few days.

Consequently, a number of villages has been affected as the residents are unable to reach the subdivisional headquarters town of Pathsala. The affected villages are Hathinapur, Medhikuchi, Puthimari, Singimari, Seki, Souliabari, Bhakatarbhitha, Kordoiguri, Uzanbarbari, Anandabazar, Salbari, etc.

The rising water level even poses a serious threat to the embankment near Gohinpara. In another place at Bongaon, a stretch of the PWD road has been submerged by the Kaldia river. The situation may turn worse if the rains continue.

Meanwhile, due to incessant rainfall, there is waterlogging in various parts of Pathsala and Patacharkuchi towns, throwing normal life out of gear. The level of the Kaldia and Pahumara rivers has been constantly rising.
