GUWAHATI, June 27 - An employee of a private company has been arrested by Bhangagarh police for trying to misappropriate over Rs 16 lakh of the firm.
Rahul Kalita of Basistha, an employee of Smart Value Products & Services Pvt Limited, was asked to deposit Rs 19.33 lakh at a bank on Monday, officials of the company said. However, later in the day, Kalita called up his bosses from Jagiroad claiming that he was kidnapped by two youths who looted the money.
The company lodged a case at the Bhangagarh PS. Kalita was interrogated and finally he confessed that he had kept the money at his residence. However, police claimed that they could recover Rs 16.40 lakh from his residence.
