PVSM for Air Marshal Anjan Gogoi

GUWAHATI, Jan 25 � Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal on the occasion of the Republic Day for his distinguished service. He has been bestowed the highest peace time award for rendering service of the most exceptional order, a press release stated.

Air Marshal Gogoi, the eldest son of late Keshab Chandra Gogoi and Shanti Gogoi, was among the first batch of students at the Sainik School, Goalpara in 1964.

An ex-National Defence Academy officer, he was commissioned in the Fighter Stream of the Indian Air Force on June 2, 1973. He is a qualified flying instructor, a fighter combat leader and a graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.

He was the Director General Air (Operations) at Air HQ before assuming the prestigious post of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Air Command on January 1, 2011. He is a recipient of the Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal and Aide de Camp.

Air Marshal Gogoi has undergone the Air Combat Simulator Instructor�s course in the UK, the Higher Command Course at the Army War College, Mhow and NDC (Executive National Security Programme) in South Africa. He is an MPhil in Defence and Management Studies from the DAVV University, Indore.
