3 hurt in leopard attack: Three persons were injured when a leopard had attacked them in a remote village in Ghilamora, about 55 kms from here.

The incident took place on Friday morning when a leopard attacked one Ritu Raj Hatibaruah (27) while he was fishing on the bank of a stream in Majulmati under Ghilamora Police Station. After that the leopard attacked Tankeswar Gohain (48) and Robin Gohain (25) while they were herding their cattle. As the news of the leopard attack spread, hundreds of villagers came out in search of it but the leopard took shelter on a tall tree.

Two teams of State forest personnel arrived from North Lakhimpur and Dhakuwakhona later on but they too were still unable to trace the leopard. A severely injured Tankeswar Gohain was later shifted to NL Civil Hospital for further treatment.
