Punjab set up summit clash with BSF

GUWAHATI, March 25 � Formidable Punjab set up title clash with Border Security Force (BSF) in the All India Police Hockey Championship.

In two semifinals played today, BSF trounced Haryana 4-1 while Punjab outwitted Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) 6-0.

In the first encounter at the Maulana Md Tayabulla Hockey Stadium at Bhetapara here today, BSF took control from the very begining against Haryana and scored at regular intervals.

Ranjit Singh opened the account in the 18th minute while Mandeep singh made it 2-0 in the 30th minute. Virenderjit Singh (55 th minute) and Prakash Kerketta (67 th minute) were the other goal scorers for BSF. World Cup player Sandeep Singh scored the lone goal for Haryana in the 41 st minute.

The second semifinal was a totally one-sided affair as riding on three goals by Jugraj Singh, Punjab handed a 6-0 drubbing to CISF. Amit Singh (2nd and 41 st minute), Jugraj (6 th, 49 th and 51 st minute) and Satvinder Singh (25 th minute) were the scorers for the winning team. The final will be played tomorrow at 2.30 pm.
